What happens after I place an order?I will keep you up to date on the progress of your order. You will be sent a confirmation email, which includes details of your order. I may get in touch with you to confirm the details of your order, particularly if this is a commission. Once i dispatch your order, I will send you a shipment email confirming details of your tracking (if available).
-
What is the approximate shipping time after my order is ready? If your order is a stock item, I will ship within 2-4 working days for UK and international deliveries ( UK Parcelforce 48 hour). Please bear in mind that international shipping is particularly slow at the moment and may attract payable duty which is the responsiblity of the customer to pay.
-
What do you charge for shipping within the UK?I ship parcels via Royal Mail 2nd class at a flat rate of £3.99 for parcels under 2kg (small and medium) and £10 for parcels over 2kg and under 5kg. I offer free local delivery within a 5 mile radius and you are welcome to collect from me too.
-
I live nearby, do you have a shop or can I collect?"I don’t have a shop but you’re very welcome to come and collect, just drop me a message. I love to welcome people to my studio.
-
What happens if I have a problem with my delivery? Please get back in touch with me and I will do what i can to help. I pack my pots extremely carefully with lots of packaging (reused and recycleable as far as possible) to make sure they arrive undamaged but occasionally accidents happen in transit. Please take a photo of the parcel and the pot on arrival and I will provide tracking information to assist in any claim for insurance through the post office if applicable
-
What if I want to cancel my order or want a replacement or refund? Please get in touch as soon as possible and I will see what I can do to help. I can offer a refund for stock items not yet dispatched. I do not offer returns unless the item is faulty and if i can provide a replacement for the item I will be happy to do so or issue a refund. Please send me a photo of the damage for insurance. Please note, for personalised items, it will not be possible to cancel the order once item has been personalised.

Do you ship internationally?Yes I do. Please contact me for a delivery quote first as each item is individual, the weight and dimensions will vary. Any customs and import duty payable on delivery will be your responsibility. I pack things very carefully with lots of (recycled) packaging. This may incur slightly greater packaging costs as I would rather ensure the item arrives in one piece in a slightly larger box

How are your pots made?I use mainly a smooth white stoneware clay as it takes surface decoration and glazes so well. Most of my things are wheel thrown and then finished and decorated by hand using a variety of techniques, adding colour with slips, underglaze and glaze. I love to experiment so my style changes frequently and I love playing with colour. Items thrown on the wheel will vary slightly as each one is individually made but I think that adds to their individuality and has so much more personality than factory produced ceramics.

Is the gold lustre real gold?Yes, it is 22ct gold and applied before a third firing.
-
What is pitfiring? There are many ways to give pottery a second firing including, raku, smokefiring, barrel firing and pit firing. Pit firing involves burying pots in a fire pit surrounded by a range of foraged and gathered combustibles, which can include seaweed, ferns, pine cones, leaves, fruit peels and shells, feathers, eggshells, cow pats and any number of other interesting finds from nature. The fire is then lit and left to burn for several hours after which the pit is covered to encourage reduction firing (reducing oxygen available). Once fire has cooled the unique and magically transformed pots can be retrieved, washed and waxed ( and some inevitable cracked pots discarded!). It’s a very exciting part of the pottery process and the results are different and fascinating every time.
-
How do I care for my pitfired pot?Pitfired pots are different. They have their second firing in a pit so don’t reach a high enough temperature to fully vitrify. This makes them more susceptible to chipping and they will not be waterproof so are for decorative purposes only. They can be rinsed in warm water and they benefit from an occasional buff up with a bit of wax polish to revive their sheen and bring out the colours.
-
Can I put your pots in the dishwasher?Yes you can! They should be perfectly safe in the dishwasher under normal usage. If your pot has gold lustre on it, I would probably wash it by hand, to better preserve the gold. Lustre is applied as a third firing under lower temperatures so can wear off after lots of use.
-
Is your crockery food safe? All the glazes I use on the inside of domestic ware are labelled as food safe. If it is designed for food contact, I take care to choose glazes that perform well under those conditions, e.g. I don’t use rough or unglazed surfaces where food will be in contact and I never use lead based glazes.
-
Are your pots microwaveable?Yes they are fine in a microwave, even the ones with gold lustre.
-
Can I put your pots in the oven?Yes you can. The clays I use are high fired stoneware and porcelain and as they are fully vitrified, they are more durable overall than earthenware. That saying, I would suggest some common sense and avoid putting really cold dishes in very hot ovens. Putting ceramics straight from a freezer to a smoking hot oven is probably not the most sensible thing for any dish, regardless of its manufacture.
